Border Bandits and Delicate Flowers by JJ Bunyan

This is a compendium of 80 individual accounts of people, places and events which JJ Bunyan can recall over the past sixty-five years. It traces his life, from growing up on a small farm cum rural post office in North Kerry in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s through to the present day. His account of getting his first real job with Equitable Life Assurance, 59th Street, New York in May 1964 is proof of the influence of the native Irish network in the city. The contents of the book are proof of JJ's adaptability, versatility and tenacity as Customs Officer; as a District Court Clerk and in private enterprise after early retirement in September 1997. – Brendan Dunleavy, International Agricultural Consultant, raconteur and climate activist, Killeshandra, Co. Cavan
